Some of the books we enjoy most engage our brains as much as much as our imagination. Sounds like Stout is one of those subdolous (did I use that right?) writers. Gave a Kindle to husband for Christmas (best gift he says ever) and can look up definitions without leaving page. Saves lots of trips to computer/dict when attempting the meatier reads. Just thought I'd "broach the idea."

Comment on Volunteerism

The organizations you suggest are great ones. I would also suggest HandsOn Network affiliates around the state of Florida - they have a variety of projects that can meet a wide range of interests.

Comment on It's not worth it

Enjoy your Nero Wolfe musings. We're going to take it with us to our Dinner Club this month and use it for after-dinner conversation. If you don't have such a place in your life, I urge you to find one whether it is a place to walk, a place to sit and read a book, or time spent listening to your grandchildren laugh. So many of us never take the time and eventually stress takes its toll on our mental health.

Comment on What's your "sewing room"?

So very true, "sewing rooms," are a necissity to survival I think, we all need a safe place to hide from time to time. For me, my sewing room is any time I walk along an ocean shore, (which is not often enough) but mostly, everytime I am on my horse, no matter where we ride there is a sense of peace and freedom that many will never know...

</rdf:RDF>
